Hey, everyone!
If you are reading this, thank you SO much for taking the time to check out my website and read through my blog!
I am so beyond excited about having my own site and I am going to do my best to keep it updated (I start college in T minus 6 days so I am crossing my fingers!)
I wanted to share a little bit about myself on my first post; I am a 90's baby from Kalamazoo, Michigan. I grew up with a blended family, as my parents are divorced, resulting in 5 wonderful siblings! (I am also the oldest.) Music has always been a part of my life, but it wasn't until my 6th grade year that it became apparent to me that music was a career I wanted to pursue. After singing publicly for the first time in our middle school talent show, I received a standing ovation after my rendition of Miley Cyrus' "The Climb." Since then, I have continued to pursue my career as an artist; I began teaching myself guitar at the age of 13. Taylor Swift was a heavy influence on me, which was my main motivation for teaching myself guitar and to begin songwriting. Thanks to help and support from The Chili Peppers, a songwriting club I joined when I first began playing/writing, I was able to grow as a songwriter to develop and mature my craft, with help from amazing local talents. At the age of 15, I began playing out in local bars around my hometown. By the end of that same year, I was asked to open up for National Country Music Recording Artist, Frankie Ballard, at is annual hometown show. I have also been blessed to have opened up for Joanne Shaw Taylor in addition to opening for former American Idol star, Matt Giraud, two years in a row. I am currently enrolled at Belmont University, in Nashville, Tennessee, where I will be majoring in Music Business Administration. My goal is to continue to chase my dreams in Music City while gaining a degree that will open up opportunities for me while also giving me a better understanding of the music industry.
Thank you all so much for your love and your support; I truly wouldn't be able to do what I do without all that you guys constantly do for me. I am overwhelmed with the amount amazing people there are supporting me along the way.
You all are amazing!
Shelby xoxo
